The key to sticking to your New Year’s resolutions is to make them achievable. Any goal that requires a complete lifestyle change is going to be challenging to stick with. Below are eight healthy goals that are simple to achieve and have a big impact on your overall well-being. Pick one from the list and focus on it all year long!
1. Get more sleep.
You may not be able to get the recommended eight hours, but start by going to bed just 15 minutes earlier. Set an alarm that goes off when it’s time to start your nighttime routine.
2. Eat salad once a week.
It’s important to get your greens! If you’re not a salad eater, start by incorporating it just once a week. Over time, you may find yourself adding salad to your daily diet.
3. Take your medications as prescribed.
It’s critical that you take your meds on time and in the prescribed dose. Start setting medication reminders and tracking your intake using your CareZone app. Click here to learn more.
4. Read a book.
Reading is not only cheap entertainment, but it also helps improve your memory. Make it your goal to read a new book once a month. Visit your library or try an audio book.
5. Add a low-impact exercise to your routine.
Whether you exercise daily or barely ever, pick one new low-impact exercise and start doing it once a week. Some activities to try are walking, water aerobics, or yoga.
6. Cook a new recipe once a month.
Pick a new, healthy recipe to try each month. Over time, you’ll have a library of good-for-you recipes that’ll make dinner time easier and healthier.
7. Drink more water.
It might be hard to drink 8 glasses a day, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try! Have a glass of water when you first wake up or purchase a water bottle and bring it with you wherever you go.
8. Get a health check-up.
Start the year off with a clean bill of health. Visit your doctor and get your annual check up. If you have questions for your doctor, jot them down in the Journal section of the CareZone app.
